2024 Fantasy Outlook
Thrust into the big-league rotation early in 2024 amid a slew of injuries, Arrighetti looks more like a streamer in very good matchups than an every-week consideration in mixed leagues. He was 93-97 mph with his fastball in his big-league debut but had sat in the low-90s in the minors, so perhaps he was a little juiced up. Arrighetti's high-80s cutter and low-80s sweeper are his go-to secondary offerings, with the sweeper grading as his best pitch. The 24-year-old righty has poor command, with his 9.1 percent walk rate at Double-A in 2023 the lone mark below 11 percent at any stop since 2022. He has gone fewer than five innings in all three of his 2024 starts, largely due to the fact he has walked 10 batters in 11.1 innings. Arrighetti (0-4) took the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday, pitching five innings during which he allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters.
ANALYSIS
Arrighetti was victimized by the long ball in the loss, as New York belted three homers against him. After posting his best career start in allowing two runs over 5.2 frames against Cleveland his previous time out, the rookie right-hander was back to scuffling Wednesday. He's lost four of his five starts this season while registering an 8.44 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and 25:13 K:BB over 21.1 innings. He may be bumped from the rotation with Cristian Javier (neck) slated to return from the injured list this weekend.
