Inconsistent ways continue
MiddleweightUFC
October 7, 2023
Alhassan lost to Joe Pyfer via technical submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:05 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Alhassan lasted more than seven minutes, which may not seem that great on the surface, but actually isn't all that bad considering he spent the entirety of this fight on the defensive. Alhassan's lone highlight from an offensive perspective were some quality leg kicks which left Pyfer hobbled. Unfortunately for Abdul, he was unable to defend the takedown and eventually went to sleep in the early portion of Round 2. The very definition of roster depth, the 38-year-old Alhassan lost three straight from July 2020 to April 2021. The UFC stuck with him and he has alternated wins and losses in four fights since. They'll probably run him back out there once again, but it's far from a guarantee.

Alhassan will not fight Brunno Ferreira on July 1, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.

Facing Brunno Ferreira
MiddleweightUFC
February 23, 2023
Alhassan agreed to fight Brunno Ferreira in a middleweight bout at UFC's July 1 event, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Alhassan is 2-5 over his past seven bouts but is coming off a knockout victory over Claudio Ribeiro in January. Ferreira earned a UFC contract through Dana White's Contender Series in September and won his promotional debut with a knockout win against Gregory Rodrigues in January. All 10 of Ferreira's professional fights have ended in a stoppage victory.
Statement win over Claudio Ribeiro
MiddleweightUFC
January 14, 2023
Alhassan defeated Claudio Ribeiro via KO (punches) at 0:28 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
In a pick 'em fight, Alhassan's trademark power was the difference. Abdul had a rough start to the bout, absorbing some brutal leg kicks from Ribeiro early on. He wisely recognized a potential hole in his opponent's game and spent the rest of the round controlling the Brazilian along the fence. Alhassan found his range on the feet in Round 2, crushing and finishing Ribeiro with massive strikes during an exchange early in the frame. Alhassan's UFC run appeared to be on life support following three straight defeats from July 2020 to April 2021, but he's won two of three since, with the defeat being a split decision against Joaquin Buckley last February. Alhassan's ceiling is non-existent because he has no means of generating offense if his power shots aren't landing, but Abdul is clearly capable of performances such as this one if they are.

November 29, 2022

ANALYSIS
Alhassan was supposed to fight this past summer, but ultimately had to withdraw from a potential matchup against Jamie Pickett. He will be in the Octagon nearly 11 months since his last fight in which he fell by split decision to Joaquin Buckley.
