Strong showing in 145-pound debut
Shore defeated Makwan Amirkhani via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:27 of Round 2 at UFC 286 on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
It was Shore's return to featherweight after spending each of his first six UFC bouts competing at bantamweight. It didn't start well. He was forced to the mat by Amirkhani early on and spent near the entirety of the opening frame plastered to the ground. Yet, it was Amirkhani that was tired out from all the grappling, and Shore took full advantage. He pounded his opponent on the feet early in Round 2 before choking him out at the end of the stanza. Having just turned 28 years of age in early February, Shore still retains a very high ceiling and should be considerably more effective with the extra ten pounds on his frame.

Fighting at UFC 286
Shore (knee) will take on Makwan Amirkhani at UFC 286 in London on March 18, USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Shore will make his return to the Octagon in a couple months after suffering a knee injury last fall which kept him out of a scheduled fight against Kyler Phillips. Shore won his first five fights under the UFC banner, but lost the last time he fought in July against Ricky Simon.

Suffers knee injury
Shore disclosed via his personal Facebook account that he will be forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight against Kyler Phillips due to "a serious knee injury."
ANALYSIS
Shore said in the post that he'll save the specifics for his next podcast, and he also noted that the injury is likely to keep him sidelined for the rest of the year. It's a tough break for the newly-ranked bantamweight, who is 5-1 to begin his UFC run.

Looks to bounce back in November
Shore will take on Kyler Phillips in a bantamweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Nov. 19, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Shore started his UFC run on a tear, winning his first five fights with the company on the back of his wrestling, averaging 3.66 takedowns per 15 minutes. That will likely be the same strategy against Phillips, who has similar offensive wrestling numbers but just a 69 percent takedown defense. Phillips also has a massive edge in striking volume, but that won't matter if Shore can execute his game plan and get him on his back. Both men stand at 5-foot-8 with a similar reach in what should be an excellent fight showcasing the future of 135 pounds.

Suffers first pro defeat
Shore lost to Ricky Simon via submission (arm triangle) at 3:28 of Round 2 at UFC on ABC 3 on Saturday on Long Island.
ANALYSIS
It's difficult to envision a scenario in which Shore, who entered with an undefeated professional record and was viewed as a top prospect, could have looked worse. He struggled with the constant pressure of Simon for nearly the entirety of Round 1 before gaining some steam late in the frame. The struggles carried over to Round 2, at which point Shore gave up a pair of takedowns before being clipped with a short shot and knocked down before eventually being submitted. Shore is 27 years of age and plenty young enough to rebound from this result, but it's going to take some time.
