Pistons Top Wizards In Battle Of Struggling Teams
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Washington Wizards, 96-87, at Capital One Arena on Friday.

The Pistons (13-61) and the Wizards (14-60) engaged in a low-scoring battle that could have gone a long way in deciding which team would end the regular season at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. The Pistons were the better team in the first half, generating a 19-point lead over the first two quarters. However, the Wizards responded with a 35-21 score in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to just five points. The Wizards couldn’t hold on in the fourth quarter, and the Pistons won the final 12 minutes by a 16-12 score. With the win, the Pistons moved to a 6-30 record away from home. Meanwhile, the Wizards fell to 6-30 at home.

Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons with 33 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Jalen Duren had a 20-point, 17-rebound double-double. Evan Fournier delivered 10 points coming off the bench. Jaden Ivey recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Detroit shot 41.6 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc.

Corey Kispert led the way for the Wizards with 23 points. Marvin Bagley recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds. Deni Avdija sniffed a triple-double after posting 18 points, 11 boards and nine assists. Kyle Kuzma posted 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Jordan Poole had seven points while going 3-for-15 from the field. The Wizards shot 40.9 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from deep.
