MarShawn Lloyd

23-Year-Old Running BackRB
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Not many running backs are as toolsy as Lloyd, who ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at a conspicuously muscular 5-9, 220. He was a worthwhile developmental pick in the third round for a Packers team with few glaring needs and a new lead back in Josh Jacobs. Lloyd has potential to be a big-play threat both as a runner and receiver, and with either power or speed. There are at least two obstacles for now, however. The first is that Jacobs was paid handsomely and has an established track record handling huge workloads. The second is that Lloyd was one of the worst fumblers in recent college football history, coughing it up at least eight times on 325 career touches. The ball-security issues might also explain why he never got more than 116 carries in a season, even last year at USC when he averaged 7.1 YPC and took 13 catches for 232 yards. The Packers can afford to be patient with Lloyd, perhaps even starting him off as the No. 3 back behind both Jacobs and AJ Dillon. Read Past Outlooks

Green Bay adds in third round
RBGreen Bay Packers
April 26, 2024
The Packers selected Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 88th overall.
ANALYSIS
Lloyd had an out-of-control fumbling problem in college at both USC and South Carolina, dropping the ball 11 times on just 291 career touches from scrimmage. If he keeps doing that at the NFL level he quite simply will not play. The good news is that if Lloyd can manage to fix his fumbling problem, then he would have a lot of upside as one of the draft's toolsiest running backs. Lloyd packs memorable explosiveness and anchor onto a dense 5-foot-9, 220-pound frame, and when you pair his 4.46 speed with his low and dense center of gravity, you have a running back who's very difficult to tackle. With Josh Jacobs around there won't be much for Lloyd to do in the near future, but the Packers have an interest in developing Lloyd so that he might hit his upside scenario, even if years down the road.

Similar skill set to Aaron Jones
RBGreen Bay Packers
May 12, 2024
Lloyd's mix of burst, toughness and pass-catching ability is reminiscent of Aaron Jones, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
ANALYSIS
Given his Jones-like skill set, it's fitting that Lloyd ended up in Green Bay, where Jones spent his first seven seasons before signing with the rival Vikings in the offseason. Jones exceeded 1,000 rushing yards three times with the Packers, so Green Bay would love to get similar production from Lloyd down the line, but the 2024 third-round draft pick will have to compete with Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon for touches in Lloyd's rookie campaign. Per Fowler, the Cowboys and Giants also had interest in drafting Lloyd before the running back ultimately went 88th overall to the Packers.
