Lakers Move Closer To Playoffs With Win Over Nets
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 116-104, at Barclays Center on Sunday.

The Lakers (42-33) took another step toward reaching the playoffs with a composed win over the Nets (29-45) despite playing on the road. The Lakers moved to 14-21 away from home, but they are set to end the campaign with a winning record and, thus, reach the Play-In Tournament. Meanwhile, the Nets fell to 17-19 at home, and their playoff chances are getting more complicated since they sit 5.5 games out of 10th place with seven left in their schedule. The game was over as soon as it started, as the Nets looked lost in the first quarter, allowing the Lakers to build a 20-point lead after the first 12 minutes (31-11). The Nets showed signs of fighting back in the second half, particularly winning the third quarter by a 35-23 margin, but it was not enough to turn things around. The Lakers closed things out in the fourth quarter by a 26-25 score.

LeBron James had one of his best performances of the season and finished with 40 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Anthony Davis recorded 24 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Rui Hachimura notched 20 points and 10 rebounds. D’Angelo Russell delivered 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Austin Reaves had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Lakers shot 54.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep.

Cam Thomas was the Nets’ best player by a wide margin after posting 30 points and six assists. Dennis Schroder had 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Mikal Bridges posted 13 points, four assists and three rebounds. Nic Claxton had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Trendon Watford had 15 points off the bench. The Nets shot 42.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range.
