The Chicago Bulls took down the Minnesota Timberwolves, 109-101, at the Target Center on Sunday.

It was the visiting Bulls (36-39) who went on a 12-3 run midway through the first quarter to finish the frame up by 11. The Timberwolves (51-23) were able to reduce the deficit to single digits in the second quarter, but still found themselves down by 10 at halftime. The gap grew by as much as 16 points in the third quarter, but Minnesota ended the frame on a 9-2 run to go into the final 12 minutes down by five. The teams traded buckets and leads in the fourth frame, but Chicago closed the game out on a 11-2 run to capture the win.

Three-point shooting was the difference in this game, as the Bulls went 17-for-29 from beyond the arc while the Timberwolves went 11-for-37. Chicago improved to 17-20 on the road following Sunday’s win, while Minnesota dropped to 26-10 at home.

DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 27 points, two rebounds and eight assists. Alex Caruso had a game-high five steals along with 21 points, five rebounds and five assists. Nikola Vucevic tallied 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Colby White added 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Ayo Dosunmu chipped in 13 points, three rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 22 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for his ninth double-double of the season. Mike Conley totaled 19 points, seven assists and four steals. Rudy Gobert notched his 48th double-double of the season with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals. Naz Reid contributed 14 points, three rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while Monte Morris led the bench with nine points, two rebounds and two steals.

Next up, the Bulls return to Chicago to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. The Timberwolves will stay home and welcome in the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.
